Even when you have a dedicated roster of clients, it’s satisfying to be contacted by a new customer. One of the most important questions to ask this potential clientis: “How did you hear about us?” And a top answer to this question should always be: “I saw your van.” Your marketing budget doesn’t need to cost you a dime if you use your new van and truck mount strategically.

Boost Your Truck Mount’s Image

In the cleaning business, image is everything. You can show potential clients proof of this by traveling to and from every job with your new van and truck mount.

Think about it: A van with your company name and phone number on it is on the road a lot. People are looking at your van while you’re stopped at a red light. Potential customers see your van when it’s parked at the neighbor’s house cleaning their carpet. Your van is one of the best forms of advertising you can possible have.

Water damage restoration is a grueling but critical task. The damage from a flood, burst water pipe, heavy rains, or major leak creates great potential for mold and bacteria to grow and microorganisms to develop. Clean-up must be handled immediately and properly, but getting the job done thoroughly is not always easy.

Overcome Water Damage Restoration Hurdles

For companies that provide water damage restoration, there are challenges that come with every job. Some of the most common problems include:

  1. Excessive descaling. Your water damage restoration equipment may get the job done, but at what price? The deposits – the scale – build up within your dehumidifier over time. Left to fester and compound, the presence of scaling can negatively impact the performance of your equipment. Wouldn’t it just be easier to have a machine that reduces or eliminates the need for descaling at all?

Summer is here, and the time is right for the recommended oil. It is always a good idea to use the oil and filters recommended by the manufacturer of your equipment/engine. It is even more critical in the summer heat. Why? In air-cooled engines, oil not only lubricates all of the moving parts in your engine, but it also cools the engine. So the wrong viscosity, type oil or a filter that restricts oil flow can damage your engine.

Many owners ask me whether they should use synthetic oil. The answer is NO. We have repowered two truckmounts just last summer because of synthetic oil. I use it in my car–the manufacturer recommends it–but there’s a big difference between air-cooled engines and liquid-cooled engines: HEAT. Air-cooled engines typically run hotter. While at a point conventional oil will burn, synthetic oils get thick when too hot. (more…)

Just a tip to keep your truck mounted carpet cleaning equipment running without unnecessary repairs…

We have had more than a few units in our shop that have had heavy scaling and deposits in the heating system. This causes lower Temperature cleaning solution and clogged Jets. This eventually can clog your heat exchangers. While a few of the cases were caused by hard water deposits. Mostly outside of the Detroit water system. The majority of cases were caused by incompatible chemicals. Some products can precipitate and leave scale in your system. While others help the minerals in the water to fall out of suspension. This can stick or plate to brass, stainless steel and hoses inside of your system. If you do the math it’s just not worth it, to try to save a few pennies on your product. The repair bills alone will more than offset any savings you might have derived . The missed jobs and downtime is what really costs. National studies have it as 2 1/2% of the cost of the job goes to your chemistry. If you could save 20% on your chemical cost it would only be $.50 on the hundred dollar job. Think about it, you’re $45,000 cleaning plant is at stake. Give us a call or stop in for more information.

I recently talked with a carpet cleaner who had his truck mount carpet cleaning machine burst into flames while inside cleaning.

What’s even more frightening, it caught the house on fire. The fire was put out before it burned the house down and no one was injured. The truck was a total loss. As the insurance adjusters tried to work out who was responsible for the fire, the repair history came into question. Was the repair shop certified? Qualified? Trained and insured? This left the carpet cleaning contractor with some exposure to say the least, and even called into question if he was negligent.

You might want to know if the shop that services your equipment is certified, trained and insured. Is the shop authorized by the manufacturer to service your equipment? Checking this out might prevent this from ever happening in the first place, and can limit your exposure in the event you find yourself in this situation.

Prochem All Fiber Rinse will get rid of the white film and crusty buildup. Just run it through your injector system or pre spray. Run your wand over the carpet in two directions for heavy buildup areas.
