An 1800’s
Invention Improves Cleaning Equipment Fuel Savings, Efficiency,
and Your Business’ Marketing Chemistry
May 1st, 2008. David Lewandowski
It’s true. We’ve had the answer all along.
We’ve looked right past the obvious. While
reading about bio-fuel, thinking about a Hybrid, or searching
for a station with gas for a few cents less, it's been right
under us.
We've tried coupons; tried the "three
room carpet cleaning special" with not so much success. We
didn’t find the customer we really wanted. You know the
customer. The one with surfaces needing our professional care
and attention, and near to our home. And, always more than just
a customer. They’re the reason we enjoy cleaning, and got into
the business.
And, no the invention is not my favorite
Tequila added to your carpet pre-conditioner.
It’s more obvious. And being it's May,
National Bike Month, well, you guessed it.
Yes. I’m suggesting biking.
So, here are the reasons why you might
not want to buy another new cleaning tool from MMS this Spring,
and instead go to your local bike shop and invest $300 in a
quality bicycle.
This is lived experience. Not a marketing job,
so read on.
First, get a quality bike. It’s like a
quality Prochem truck mount. It gets noticed. And, it's easier
to use, and more reliable.
Imagine biking every nice day. Make it easy.
Try a commute to the office, head up to the store, or around the
neighborhood. Make it fun, and stretch some too. Go ahead, feel
like a kid. It’s okay. Try doing it a few times a week. Find a
favorite ride. My favorite is after a summer rain. What a smell
of clean.
Ride what was always previously done by car.
Guess what? You are looking better all the
sudden, and having more energy. And, having met a few successful
cleaning professionals, you’ve noticed they always look good
and have energy and enthusiasm. What? It wasn’t the coffee.
And more payoff. The power of persistence,
coupled with the openness of biking and people are noticing you
and saying hello. This I so love. Never did this happen at the
gas pump, or while waiting at the red light. All the
sudden, prospects from the neighborhood are saying hello to you.
And, you are saying hello to the owner of the home or business
within biking distance to your home and work.
And, imagine missing out on needing to fill up
at the gas station for $4 a gallon gas.
It’s more than imagination, and no new
technology or chemistry is needed.
It's green marketing. It's fun. It's May. And,
what a great time to meet the neighbors and leave the van or car
keys in the closet.
Always be alert and think safety.
Life is lived. Business is fun. Your bike may become as valuable
to your success as that new rotary hard surface tool.
Happy Spring. And please, drop me an
e-mail and picture of you and your bike.

Grand Opening of our NEW PROCHEM Service Center
Michigan Maintenance Supply ( MMS) has been located, at the same location since the company was founded in 1978. MMS is at 22740 Van Dyke,
two blocks south of Nine Mile, Warren, Michigan.
In 2005, MMS acquired the attached store front properties of 22750 and 22760 Van Dyke, and completely renovated them. Our original store has now expanded into that space. December 2006, MMS expanded yet again by purchasing the neighboring 4,000 square foot service garage located at 22720 Van Dyke. A complete restoration of the garage has been completed and we have occupied the building for use as a service center.
On Thursday, September 27, 2007 MMS had a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 22720 Van Dyke service garage. The facility is located adjacent our original store. The Mayor of the City of Warren, Mayor Mark A.
Steenbergh, along with our vendor partners and customers and
staff were present.
Michigan Maintenance Supply began as janitorial supply store
delivering can liners, paper products, and janitorial supplies
throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area. In addition to
janitorial supply to Southeast Michigan, MMS now serves professional carpet cleaners throughout the United States and Canada.
MMS specializes in the installation, service, and financing of truck mounted carpet cleaning equipment. After the ceremony we
demonstrated Prochem equipment and chemicals.
MMS Store Sign is a cool
Warren, Michigan landmark.
August 2007.
MMS
had a professional sign painter give our building's sign a
facelift. Being a "brick and mortar" business it's
important to give passers-by a glimpse of who we are. The sign
measures 40 feet wide by 20' and height and features an animated
group of janitorial supplies chasing each other. Also shown are
logos for: PROCHEM, Spartan Chemical and NuSource. August 2007.
